Meet Johnny Tabaie: Founder and CEO of Holistic Sanctuary and Sanctuary Tulum

Meet Johnny Tabaie, Our Founder and CEO of Holistic Sanctuary and Sanctuary Tulum, and the creator of The Pouyan Method™—a powerful healing system pioneering a safety-first system designed to help clients address the root drivers of addiction, trauma, PTSD, depression, and chronic emotional dysregulation through an intensive, medically supervised, fully holistic model.

Known for building one of the most exclusive and comprehensive healing environments in the world for almost 2 decades, Johnny’s work merges sacred plant medicine (where appropriate and medically screened) with regenerative and restorative therapies, structured nervous-system rehabilitation, and a private, oceanfront setting engineered for deep recovery. His approach is unapologetically bespoke: no assembly-line programming, no group therapy dependency, and no “one-size-fits-all” protocols—only precision care, one-on-one wellness therapies, and a complete mind–body–soul transformation framework.

Johnny Tabaie’s credibility is not theoretical. It was forged through lived experience.

A Life Forged in Adversity—and a Mission Born from Loss.

Born into a turbulent environment, Johnny faced profound adversity from an early age. Before his 14th birthday, he was abandoned by his mother and placed into foster care—experiences that left deep emotional wounds and set the stage for years of instability. From adolescence into adulthood, Johnny lived through a relentless cycle of trauma, depression, ADHD-related struggles, addiction, homelessness, and repeated encounters with conventional treatment models that often offered medication-heavy protocols without resolving the underlying pain.

For roughly two decades, Johnny cycled through rehabs, group homes, and conventional interventions. He was prescribed multiple medications—many of which left him feeling emotionally blunted, chemically dependent, or worse than before. The message he kept receiving was that his condition needed “management.” Yet nothing about that approach felt like healing.

Then came the defining tragedy.

In 2001—during a brief period of sobriety—Johnny set out to find his brother David and bring him back from the streets. After hours of searching, he found David living under a bridge. Johnny intervened, convinced him to accept help, and on January 31, 2001, David entered a residential dual-diagnosis treatment center in Santa Cruz, California.

Two weeks later, on February 14, 2001, David died by suicide after being prescribed a pharmaceutical medication with known suicidality risks. That loss shattered Johnny. It was more than grief—it was a rupture that drove him back into years of self-destruction.

From 2001 to 2007, Johnny’s life again became a battle for survival—homelessness, relapse, and the dangerous attempt to self-medicate unresolved trauma and mental pain. He reached the edge more than once.

The Turning Point: A Vow That Changed Everything

On May 15, 2007, Johnny experienced what he describes as a moment of absolute clarity—an internal shift that ended the cycle of blame, collapse, and chaos. In that moment, he turned to God and made a promise: if he was given a path out, he would dedicate his life to helping others find their way back.

From that day forward, Johnny Tabaie chose discipline over despair.

He removed drugs and alcohol from his life and committed himself to deep study: research, meditation, breathwork, energetic practices, nutritional restoration, and holistic physiology. He explored ancient healing traditions and plant medicines—approaching them not as trends but as powerful tools that require rigorous respect, careful screening, and responsible structure.

Within months of sustained daily practice—hours of meditation, energetic rehabilitation, and lifestyle change—Johnny began to experience a profound recalibration: emotional clarity, purpose, internal stability, and the realization that his life was not meant to be a story of damage, but a blueprint for transformation.

Founder of holistic sanctuary Johnny TabaieJohnny Tababie, aka “Johnny the Healer,” From Private Practice to a Global Vision

Johnny’s Energy Healing capabilities and results quickly attracted attention. As he refined his work, clients began referring to him as “Johnny the Healer.” People sought him out for trauma, anxiety, addiction, and emotional suffering—not because he offered comforting words, but because they felt measurable shifts in their nervous system, clarity, and capacity to function again. But within a few months, Johnny had a waiting list that would take weeks if not months to even get on it.

But Johnny’s vision was never limited to being a solo practitioner with a waiting list.

He set out to create a true sanctuary—an environment where healing could be delivered at the highest level: private, intensive, structured, medically supervised, and fully holistic. A place where clients weren’t treated like diagnoses, liabilities, or numbers.

The Holistic Sanctuary was designed to rebuild human beings.

The Pouyan Method™ is the culmination of Johnny’s lived experience and years of relentless refinement. It is not a single ceremony, a single “detox,” or a feel-good retreat. It is a multi-phase, safety-first, intensive healing system designed to stabilize the body, repair neurobiology, restore spiritual and emotional coherence, and help clients reclaim the capacity to live fully.

The method integrates carefully selected modalities under one roof, which may include (based on client screening and individualized planning)

  • Sacred plant medicine protocols (where appropriate and medically screened), including Ibogaine., DMT, Psilocybin, and Ayahuasca, and other modalities aligned with the program
  • NAD+ IV therapy, amino acid and vitamin IV protocols, and advanced restorative drips
  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for recovery support and resilience
  • Red-light therapy, infrared sauna, detoxification support, and nervous-system regulation practices
  • Gut and microbiome support strategies, functional nutrition, and therapeutic cleansing protocols
  • Regenerative services that may include stem cell–related therapies where legal and clinically appropriate
  • A fully structured integration and stabilization framework designed to translate breakthroughs into lasting change

The Birth Holistic Sanctuary: 11/11/2011, Johnny turned the vision into reality. On November 11, 2011 (11:11:11)—a date symbolizing alignment and purpose—he opened Holistic Sanctuary in Baja California, Mexico. What began as a bold idea became a world-class, deeply private healing environment that now attracts clients seeking a level of safety, discretion, and intensity that conventional models rarely offer.

Today, Holistic Sanctuary and Sanctuary Tulum continue to raise the bar on what “treatment” can mean: not symptom suppression, not revolving-door rehab, but a full-spectrum transformation model for individuals ready for real change.

Holistic sanctuary and sanctuary Tulum healing centerA New Paradigm: Root Cause, Not Lifelong Management

Johnny’s philosophy is direct: many people are not failing treatment—treatment is failing them.

Holistic Sanctuary was built for clients who have tried everything: multiple rehabs, years of medications, endless talk therapy, and still feel trapped in the same cycle. The mission is not to label someone as broken or “incurable,” but to address the underlying drivers: trauma physiology, nervous-system dysregulation, neurochemical depletion, sleep disruption, nutritional collapse, and emotional fragmentation.

Johnny’s work stands for a new paradigm: restoration over management, precision over protocols, and safety over hype.
