Fifteen Years · 5,000+ Ceremonies · Zero Compromises
Luxury Psychedelic Retreat
Holistic Sanctuary has held a single standard — one guest, one ceremony, one licensed medical team — for fifteen years and five thousand ceremonies without ever quietly lowering it. That is the entire idea behind the world’s leading luxury psychedelic retreat.

Sanctuary · Our Approach
How We Do Things Differently
Every element of a stay at Holistic Sanctuary is built around a single guest’s protocol, not a group’s itinerary. Before a ceremony is ever scheduled, our medical team reviews cardiac history, current medications, and psychiatric history in full.
Guests arriving on SSRIs, SNRIs, or benzodiazepines are not sent down the slow, uncertain path most programs default to — a three, six, nine, or even twelve-month taper that leaves the nervous system in limbo for the better part of a year. At Holistic Sanctuary, our Brain Repair IV Drip protocol is how we’ve spent fifteen years turning this into a science: a physician-administered formula that supports the brain in rebalancing its own neurochemistry — the GABA, dopamine, and serotonin receptors disrupted by long-term medication use — so guests can come off SSRIs, SNRIs, and benzodiazepines safely, correctly, and without a drawn-out gradual wean.
A traditional dieta precedes ceremony, guided individually rather than handed out as a printed sheet. When the ceremony itself begins, the room holds exactly three people beyond the guest: an ER-trained physician, a registered nurse, and an experienced facilitator — there for that guest alone, from setup through the acute window and into the following morning.

Sanctuary · The Therapies
The Ceremonies We Offer
Each modality is held privately, medically supervised from screening through integration, and never shared with another guest or another group.
Ibogaine. A single-dose, medically supervised ceremony preceded by comprehensive cardiac screening — 12-lead EKG, QTc measurement, and a full medication-interaction review.
Ayahuasca. A traditional Amazonian plant-medicine ceremony, held by an experienced shaman working alongside a licensed medical team.
5-MeO-DMT, Psilocybin & Changa DMT. Each held one guest at a time, with a clinician present throughout, under the same medical standard.
“We don’t treat plant medicine as a wellness amenity. We treat it as the serious clinical work it is — which means the infrastructure around it has to be just as serious as the medicine itself.”

Sanctuary · Fifteen Years, Zero Compromises
What Fifteen Years and 5,000 Ceremonies Actually Means
Numbers alone don’t make a retreat safe. But a track record this long, held to a single guest-at-a-time standard without shortcuts, is not something most operators in this category can claim.
Ibogaine can prolong the QT interval on an EKG by blocking a cardiac potassium channel, a mechanism first described in a New England Journal of Medicine case report on long-QT syndrome induced by ibogaine (NEJM). Ayahuasca carries a different risk profile: its MAO-inhibiting beta-carbolines can trigger serotonin syndrome in guests taking SSRIs or SNRIs (Ayahuasca and DMT Adverse Events and Toxicity Analysis). A perfect safety record across five thousand ceremonies is not luck. It is what a cardiac screening protocol, an individualized taper, and a one-guest-per-ceremony structure are built to produce.

Sanctuary · The Concept
A Different Idea of What a Psychedelic Retreat Should Be
Most retreats built around Ayahuasca, Ibogaine, 5-MeO-DMT, or psilocybin are, underneath the marketing, a numbers business: fill the room, run the ceremony, turn the suite over for the next group. Holistic Sanctuary was built on the opposite premise — that a psychedelic ceremony is serious enough medicine to deserve the full, undivided attention of a licensed physician, a registered nurse, and an experienced facilitator, for one guest, every time.
This is what luxury actually means here. Not the linens, though the linens are extraordinary. The luxury is the absence of compromise — no group circle, no shared facilitator’s attention, no fixed schedule borrowed from a retreat brochure. Fifteen years in, that is still the whole model.
Sanctuary · Honoring the Medicine
No Cutting Corners, No Diluting the Tradition
Ibogaine, Ayahuasca, 5-MeO-DMT, and psilocybin each carry centuries of traditional, ceremonial, and Indigenous use behind them. Holistic Sanctuary works with experienced facilitators trained in that tradition, not a rotating cast of contractors — and treats every ceremony as sacred work deserving real preparation, not a scheduled activity squeezed between spa treatments.
It also means being honest about where the science stands. Johns Hopkins established a dedicated Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research to study psilocybin’s effects on depression and existential distress (Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research). A phase 2 randomized trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine tested a single dose of psilocybin against active control in patients with treatment-resistant depression (NEJM, Single-Dose Psilocybin), and the FDA has granted psilocybin Breakthrough Therapy designation for both treatment-resistant depression and major depressive disorder (NIDA, Psychedelic and Dissociative Drugs as Medicines). None of this is a promise about any individual guest’s outcome.
Sanctuary · The Legal Landscape
Operating Honestly, in Mexico
The legal and regulatory status of plant medicine in Mexico is genuinely nuanced, and we would rather guests understand it clearly than discover it after booking. Ibogaine is unregulated in Mexico. Ayahuasca and other traditional plant medicines carry deep roots in Indigenous and traditional healing practice across Mexico and Latin America; private ceremonial use is common, even as some of their constituent compounds fall under Mexico’s general health law framework for controlled substances (Chacruna Institute, Plant Medicine in Mexico). Holistic Sanctuary operates in Mexico and does not offer these protocols in the United States. Nothing on this page has been evaluated by the FDA, and we do not make guarantees about outcomes.
A responsible retreat should turn people away. Independent research on the psychedelic retreat industry has found no consistent, industry-wide standard for how guests are screened, prepared, or monitored afterward — and that roughly three-quarters of retreat organizations exclude guests with a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder as a baseline safeguard (Harm reduction practices for users of psychedelic drugs: a scoping review). At Holistic Sanctuary, that screening happens before a guest is ever scheduled — not after they’ve already traveled to Mexico.

Luxury Psychedelic Retreat FAQs
What makes Holistic Sanctuary the world’s leading luxury psychedelic retreat?
Fifteen years and more than 5,000 ceremonies held to a single standard: one guest, one ceremony, one licensed medical team, with no group circles and no shortcuts on screening, tapering, or integration.
Which ceremonies are offered?
Ibogaine, Ayahuasca, 5-MeO-DMT, psilocybin, and Changa DMT, each held as a private, medically supervised, one-guest ceremony.
Is a luxury psychedelic retreat in Mexico legal?
The legal picture varies by substance. Ibogaine is unregulated in Mexico. Ayahuasca and other traditional plant medicines have deep roots in Mexican and Latin American traditional practice, and private ceremonial use is common, though the regulatory landscape is genuinely nuanced rather than a simple yes or no.
How does medical screening work before a ceremony?
Our physician-led team reviews cardiac history, current medications, and psychiatric history before any guest is scheduled. Guests on SSRIs, SNRIs, or benzodiazepines are supported off these medications through our physician-administered Brain Repair IV Drip protocol.
Who is not a good candidate for this retreat?
Guests with certain cardiac conditions, or a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, may not be appropriate candidates for some or all of these modalities. Our medical team reviews this individually before scheduling.
Is this the same as your luxury rehab program?
No. Our Luxury Rehab Center program is a structured clinical recovery protocol for addiction, trauma, and mental health. This retreat is centered on private, medically supervised ceremonial plant-medicine work. Many guests do both, at different points.
