The Brain Repair IV Drip Protocol, Explained
Every field has an invention that defines it. Ours is a slow intravenous drip.
The Brain Repair IV Drip Protocol — guests and practitioners shorten it to the BRP IV Protocol — is the proprietary infusion system at the center of the Pouyan Method, created by our founder Johnny Tabaie and refined across more than twelve years of daily clinical use. It is the reason guests at Holistic Sanctuary come off benzodiazepines, SSRIs, and SNRIs in weeks instead of the year the conventional model demands. It is the reason nobody here is ever handed a substitute prescription. And it is the piece of our protocol most often imitated in name and least often understood in substance — so this page explains it completely: what’s in it, what it does, why it works, and what we honestly do and do not claim for it.
The Problem It Was Built to Solve
Years of psychiatric medication, alcohol, or drugs leave the brain in a specific and predictable state: depleted and downregulated. Chronic benzodiazepine exposure downregulates GABA receptors — the nervous system’s braking system.1 Chronic alcohol metabolism directly consumes NAD+, the coenzyme at the center of cellular energy production and repair.2 Stimulants and opioids exhaust dopamine and endorphin systems. And years of poor nutrition — the nearly universal companion of all of the above — strip out the amino acids, vitamins, and minerals the brain needs to manufacture its own neurotransmitters.
The conventional response to that depleted brain is either another prescription that suppresses a different receptor system, or a taper so slow it is measured in seasons — six months, a year, sometimes two — because the receptors are being asked to rebuild themselves with no additional support. The Ashton Manual, the canonical clinical resource on benzodiazepine withdrawal, describes exactly this slow-motion ordeal.1
Johnny Tabaie’s founding question, formed from his own two decades as a medicated patient, was disarmingly simple: what if you gave the rebuilding brain the raw materials, instead of just the time?
What Is Actually in the Drip
The BRP IV Protocol is administered daily, and its formulation is calibrated to each guest’s bloodwork — no two guests receive an identical infusion. Its components:
- Amino acid precursors — the literal building blocks the brain converts into serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and glutamate. A depleted brain cannot manufacture calm, motivation, or sleep out of nothing; precursors are the “out of nothing” problem solved.
- Neuropeptides — signaling molecules supporting the communication systems that chronic substance exposure disrupts.
- NAD+ — the coenzyme central to mitochondrial energy production and DNA repair, depleted by age, stress, and directly by alcohol metabolism.2 Intravenous NAD for dependence has a clinical lineage reaching back to 19613 — modern controlled trials remain limited, and we say so plainly.
- Vitamins and minerals — magnesium, B-complex, vitamin C, and targeted micronutrients, dosed against deficiencies your bloodwork actually shows rather than a one-size-fits-all bag.
What is not in it matters just as much: no pharmaceuticals, no substitute medications, no sedatives. In fifteen years of operation, Holistic Sanctuary has never prescribed a psychiatric medication to a single guest — and never bridged one drug with another. The BRP IV Protocol exists precisely so that neither is necessary.
What It Does — the Facility’s Record, Honestly Labeled
The protocol’s purpose is to reset the four systems that medication years suppress — GABA, glutamate, serotonin, and dopamine — while a physician-supervised, gradual, in-house taper brings the medication down. Body and chemistry are rebuilt at the same time the drug departs, which is the entire difference between our timeline and the conventional one.
By the facility’s own internal record across more than twelve years — and we state this as exactly what it is, our operational record, not a published clinical trial — guests complete their tapers off benzodiazepines, SSRIs, and SNRIs in an average of two to six weeks, without withdrawal seizures, without titration syndrome, and without the trademark misery of conventional discontinuation. The first thing most guests report is sleep: real, unassisted sleep, no melatonin, no valerian, often for the first time in years. Our founder’s on-the-record prediction is that formal research will eventually validate this protocol the way it validated his 2007 prediction about psychedelic medicine — a prediction Eli Lilly priced at up to $3.8 billion in 2026.4 Until that research exists, we label every claim on this page accordingly.
Why hasn’t the trial been run already? Economics, not conspiracy: amino acids, NAD+, and micronutrients cannot be patented, and an FDA approval pathway costs hundreds of millions of dollars that no sponsor will spend on an unpatentable formula. The same economics delayed psychedelic research for half a century — until the results became impossible to ignore.
Where It Sits in the Method — Always Before the Medicine
The BRP IV Protocol is the engine of the Pouyan Method’s first phase, and the sequence is non-negotiable: preparation first, ceremonies last. Benzodiazepines directly blunt psychedelic medicines — they are what emergency rooms use to end a psychedelic experience — and serotonergic medications carry real interaction risks. A brain still carrying its prescriptions cannot safely or fully receive ibogaine, ayahuasca, psilocybin, or 5-MeO-DMT. The drip is how we get you there: cleared, rebuilt, and genuinely ready, so the medicine phase delivers everything it is capable of. That is what our founder means by honoring the temple before honoring the medicine.
It never works alone. Daily hyperbaric oxygen — with published research showing HBOT mobilizes the body’s own stem and progenitor cells eight-fold5 — plus red light, infrared sauna, an hour of daily cardio, superfood nutrition, massage, Reiki, yoga, and breathwork surround the infusion, because receptor recovery is a whole-body project and we have never cut it into pieces.
What We Will Not Claim
The BRP IV Protocol is not a cure — the word is banned on this website. It is not FDA-evaluated, and it is not offered in the United States; it is administered under licensed medical supervision at our oceanfront facilities in Mexico, with three to five nurses on every shift. Its results are our internal record, honestly labeled, until independent research says more. And it is not for everyone — our medical screening will tell you the truth about that before you commit to anything.
What it is: the most refined tool we have ever built for the specific, brutal problem of getting a human being off the medications that were supposed to help them — without a year of suffering, and without ever writing a new prescription. Twelve years, thousands of guests, one drip at a time.
